Kapitall has been live for just over three weeks, and even though we’re not actively publicizing our beta too much, we’ve already received a good deal of coverage and user feedback. Most has been really enthusiastic, but some has been a little skeptical. I think both are pretty telling.
Just five days in, and all of us here are thrilled to be “live” and see how Kapitall takes shape. Since launching our first generation beta on Monday, a lot of new investors have joined and, so far, the response has been enormously positive. Our new Kapitallists are already playing with many of the site’s features: building their investor profiles (DNA), creating portfolios, and customizing their playgrounds with companies and funds that interest them most. Of course, having a 200-point swing in the Dow on launch day only added to the excitement!
Some of our more enterprising users have begun establishing networks and are sharing ideas with friends and other like-minded Kapitallists. Along with our friendly, “drag and drop” interface and our intuitive tools, this makes the Kapitall experience stand apart from traditional investing sites. Kapitall is more than just a repository for stock quotes and financial data—it’s a place to make investing more interesting and more enjoyable.
We look forward to your feedback on what you like, what you think still needs work, and what you’d love to see on the site going forward. And to those of you still thinking about diving into Kapitall, come on in—it’s free to join and fun to use!
Perhaps you saw today’s news: we officially launched the first generation of Kapitall’s beta program. We have been hard at work for many months transforming the investing experience, and we are excited to invite beta users to provide us with feedback and suggestions.
We created Kapitall because we believe investing should be an adventure – it’s fun, it’s challenging and the more you get into it, the more you get out of it. Kapitall turns investing into an engaging and intuitive experience—a form of play--that’s a refreshing alternative to traditional financial sites. We believe you’ll find Kapitall a welcome change.
Our “drag and drop” interface allows people to easily analyze stocks, ETFs and mutual funds, and compare their performance against their peers and major market indexes. The investing wheel on the upper right corner of the screen provides quick access to areas where users can research specific companies and industry sectors, share ideas with a personalized network of like-minded investors, or simply learn more about the many features our site offers.
Over the next few months, we will be rolling out more features and tools, enhancing some of our existing ones and looking for other ways to improve the way people invest. Soon you will be able to make real trades on Kapitall, through a partnership with TD Ameritrade.
So say goodbye to the boredom and complexity most of us expect from the financial markets. At Kapitall you’ll be building your investing skills in an entirely modern way, and having fun doing it. We hope you enjoy your Kapitall experience.
The Finovate conference returns to Manhattan on September 29, and Kapitall is one of 32 companies selected to present. Our Editor in Chief, David Neubert, will have 7 minutes on stage to demo the latest additions to the site. If you're at the conference, come by and say hello to our team!
Want to see what Kapitall looked like a few months ago? Watch this video, originally recorded in April at the Finovate Conference in San Francisco. Our Creative Director, Cordell Ratzlaff, walks the audience through the main features of the site at that time.
Kapitall's set of tools can be used to compare companies, chart funds and stocks, explore investing strategies, analyze financial statements and access the latest news. We still have a lot of work to do, and will be spending the next few months expanding Kapitall's set of tools. In the meantime, here is an overview of what we've built so far....
You have to come up with an investing idea, but have no idea where to start. That's why we created the Related Tool. Start with a company you know, and use the Related Tool to explore related companies, mutual funds, Exchange Traded Funds, lists and portfolios. To dig deeper, launch any of Kapitall's tools to analyze the list of related investments...
Looking for a trading idea? Start with more than 55,000 companies, and then use the Super Screener tool to filter them down to a smaller list of stocks that conform to certain characteristics. You can screen for stocks by return, earnings growth, valuation, analyst ratings, risk levels, CEO compensation, and environmental responsibility, just to name a few. Once you have a list of stocks to explore, you can launch any of Kapitall's tools to analyze your idea.
